“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” - African Proverb

What is coaching?

Firstly, I want to acknowledge you for looking into coaching - whether you want to know more about what coaching is or whether you’re thinking of investing in yourself and your goals or dreams. Reaching out for support and investing in yourself takes courage. I acknowledge you for this as your time, energy and money is precious.

Coaching is like having a Personal Trainer for your mind! A coach sees your potential, compassionately supports you in your journey to reaching it and works with you, by having powerful conversations, in breaking through what’s holding you back.

“Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them”

- John Whitmore, Coaching for Performance

Our professionally trained coaches have invested significant time and energy into learning and mastering their craft - and continue to do so. They have been trained by an internationally accredited coach training programme (programmes accredited by the International Coaching Federation or the European Mentoring & Coaching Council), have learned the intricacies of psychology, human performance, neuroscience, behaviour and best practices in goal setting and achievement. Some of our coaches are also trained to understand mental health and trauma.

Before committing to anything, feel free to have a FREE 30minute no-obligation, confidential and nonjudgemental conversation with one of our team about what coaching is, whether it’s a good investment for your current life situation and whether one of our coaches would be a good fit for supporting you in the current stage of your journey. We take your time, investment in yourself, your safety & privacy seriously and want to ensure we’re a good fit before you take any further action.

How do we work together in a coaching engagement?

Step 1

You book a complimentary 30 minute discovery session (or you’re welcome to fill in an online form below before a call) so we can get to know each other, answer any questions you have about coaching, explore you or your team’s goals for coaching, and see if we’re a good match for working together. We also welcome you to read the Frequently Asked Questions further down this page before booking a call.

Step 2

If we both agree we’re a good match for working together, you choose the coaching offering or program of your choice. When it comes to your growth, life path and wellbeing we believe in a “one size fits one” approach, so from 1 September 2022, as an ethical for-purpose coaching & wellbeing business, we are offering extra flexibility in our offerings: one-off sessions, flexible investment options and custom-fit coaching programmes.

Step 3

We schedule in the coaching of your choice to get you clear and moving in the direction of your dreams. Sessions mainly take place over Zoom or a “walk and talk” or, if one of our coaches is local to you, the coaching can take place at a quiet office space.

Before your first coaching call you will be sent via email:

  • calendar invite with details of your coaching session

  • a coaching welcome package and pre-coaching questionnaire (clients commonly say how valuable this is - it takes them anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours) - this enables us to get the most out of our coaching sessions and lets us know of any key details up front

  • an online agreement for you to sign that lays out our terms and conditions

  • an invoice (these are sent out one month in-advance)

Step 4

If you choose an “Intentionally You” Coaching Programme or a custom-designed 3-6 month coaching programme:

  • the first 1-3 coaching sessions involve powerful processes to clearly define the goals, vision, key challenges and parameters for our coaching engagement

  • all coaching sessions afterwards involve clearing away obstacles from you reaching your goals, creating person-specific strategies and providing you with the specific resources, tools and practices you need to not only achieve your goals but also to help improve the overall quality of your life - for the long term

  • in-between most sessions your coach will provide you with either: reflection questions, resources, practices to “try on for size” and/or a multi day challenge. This work is all optional - as with anything in life, the more energy you invest in an activity, the more you get out of it.

As soon as I met Jen I knew she would be the right coach for me. We had a lovely connection from our first zoom meeting. I felt valued, listened to and ‘seen’. Jen has amazing skills in working out what would best work in each session to get the best out of it for you. I love that she was willing to try out different ways of working (walking coaching calls, visualisation exercises and breathing techniques all featured in my sessions). She was great at adapting each session for what I needed at the time while also always working towards the goals we had set at our first session together. I always came out of my sessions with more energy and clarity on what my next steps could be. I was amazed at how much we covered and how much I learnt and grew over a few months. I am so grateful for the skills I have learned during these sessions and will continue to use throughout my life journey. Thanks so much Jen!

Above all else, I genuinely care about my clients and I’m relatable to people from all walks of life. I’ve worked in public sector and corporate environments, made career changes, built my own business, moved communities, navigated high functioning anxiety and depression and faced many challenges personally and professionally.

It’s my resilience and experience in business and life that brings the human focus to my coaching. During our sessions, I provide a safe, confidential space for you to speak with me.

  • Minimum of 3 months. Most clients typically work with me fortnightly for 3 months and then we assess what support may best suit them afterwards. Appropriate resources, “fun work” and recommendations are provided for in-between sessions. My support is also available in-between sessions (you just email or message me when you need to download or discuss something). Contrary to what some people may promise, there’s no quick fix (if there was, you’d have figured it out by now).

Meaningful and sustainable change happens one step at a time. Ask yourself - how important is this to you and your future?

  • Coaching is a partnership. My clients understand that this is a relationship and it's a journey. I take on only a limited load of 1:1 private clients at any one time.

For clients investing in themselves: I offer clients an “investment continuum” for our 1:1 coaching programmes where they choose a monthly amount that best suits their situation of between $390 NZD - $550 (prices excluding GST)

For workplaces: Coaching packages start at $550 NZD plus GST per month.

  • Yes, I offer one-off sessions, usually a mentoring session or in the career development or transition space. For this arrangement there is no follow-up support between sessions and no assessments. Details: online, 60 minute coaching sessions. Investment: NZ$250 per 60 min session, plus GST (if in New Zealand).

  • Several of my clients have approached their organisation to pay for coaching. They’ve also asked for the time to go to sessions. Not everyone is able to secure this support, nor may it be appropriate, but what’s the worst that can happen? That they say no? That they know you want some professional or personal development? Is that so bad?

If you do decide to do so, explain why you want the support – what’s the rationale and business case? For example:

    • Personal and professional growth: develop your ability to deal with complex, ambiguous and fast changing situations (this is also known as vertical development - increasing your capacity for complexity)

    • Leadership development. Even if you're not directly responsible for staff, it's about personal leadership development and much of our work is directly focused on this - e.g. building self-awareness, emotional regulation and intelligence, resilience, improving ability to understand and communicate with others

    • Restructuring/redundancy support - many organisations pay for employees to receive career and coaching support through transitions

    • External and objective support in dealing with a stressful situation, workplace issues

    • To seek clarity about career/life goals

    • To learn new tools for projects, team, responsibilities

    • To learn more about self, in terms of strengths and areas for development.

  • People who work with me appreciate that growth means being willing to reflect and do stuff that may feel uncomfortable. Small steps. They understand there's only so much you can achieve within the framework of your own thoughts and they want gentle yet challenging coaching support to help create the clarity and momentum they so seek.

Critical questions that may help you understand if coaching is right for you:

    • Is something in your career or life creating uncertainty and stress for you? (challenges and/or opportunities)

    • Have your thoughts been going in circles trying to figure it out yourself and not making progress? (Humans aren't neurobiologically wired to sort this out on our own...our brains - and we - need to externalise, verbalise, be seen.)

    • Do you want/need to understand more, or make some change in your life or work, or in yourself?

    • How important is this to you in terms of the difference it will make for you? (Very?)

    • Are you willing to reflect on yourself, your habits and road-blocks - and step out of your comfort zone, little by little (and with my support of course)?

    • Are you willing to put in the time and effort? Do you understand that this is a process? The journey takes time - to gain self-knowledge, career and life design, personal growth, and new habit formation.
